Asbestosis Mesothelioma |
Asbestosis Mesothelioma - Asbestosis mesothelioma is a cancer created by asbestos and is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing cancers that the medical industry is dealing with.
The inhalation of asbestos fibers creates Asbestosis which is a serious lung disease occurring as a result of the fibers getting lodged inside the inner layers of the lungs. While asbestos is not a type of cancer, some who contract the disease will eventually develop pleural mesothelioma.
In an attempt to rid the body of the asbestos fibers inflammation occurs that eventually leads to the development of fibrosis otherwise known as scar tissue. When an x-ray can pick up the scar tissue is when a diagnosis of Asbestosis is given to a patient. The more the scar tissue grows the less the lungs will be able to function properly and this can lead to disability or death.
Asbestosis patients show symptoms of shortness of breath, a productive cough, spasms, chest tightening, and chest pain, among others. The disease rarely occurs within the first 10 years of exposure to asbestos but once the disease is located on an x-ray it seems to spread rapidly. There is no cure for asbestosis and even without additional exposure to be asbestos microfibers progression of the disease will continue and mesothelioma may occur.
Patients diagnosed with Asbestosis are continually being screened for tumors such as the asbestosis mesothelioma. Most people do not die from Asbestosis, instead they lose their life to the mesothelioma that is brought on by asbestosis.
Asbestos is a very hard mineral but because it is so tiny most people do not realize that they are breathing in and when the human body's immune system tries to destroy the particles is when all of the trouble begins. More studies and research are being conducted on a daily basis in an attempt to finally find a cure for Asbestosis and for Mesothelioma. There is still a long way to go as the disease is becoming more and more prevalent every day.
The reason why there are more diagnoses than ever before of Asbestosis Mesothelioma is because the biggest exposure that people had was around 50 years ago and the cancer can take that long to make itself known to both patients and physicians.
Today we are fully aware of the dangers of asbestos and eventually being occurrences of asbestosis mesothelioma will be far less in the future than what they are now. Even still, there are many people in the world today who are suffering from this deadly disease and many of them are turning to law offices to see what their legal rights are. It is an unfortunate fact that many companies continue to use asbestos and while doing so did not inform employees of the dangers that awaited them.
Those with Asbestosis may become afraid of what is to come next but with the proper education and continued medical testing and treatment they may be able to deal with the cancer should it arise.
Asbestosis mesothelioma patients will undergo the same treatment as patients with the other types and subtypes of mesothelioma. It is important to remember that while Asbestosis is not cancer it may very well be a precursor.
