California Mesothelioma - Asbestos has been known to cause cancer in many patients and the number of California mesothelioma patients as compared to the rest of the country has been staggering. There is much research being conducted as to finding a cure but as of right now there is no known cure for the disease and once the tumor takes over either the long or the abdomen it progresses very rapidly.

Most patients who come down with mesothelioma are men but there are more and more cases of women contracting this cancer due to the fact that they are married to the man who worked in the companies that used asbestos.

A patient will not experience any symptoms from exposure to asbestos in the very beginning stages. Californians realize that although smoking does not cause mesothelioma, it can aggravate a less serious asbestos related disease which can prompt formation of tumors. With these staggering numbers; however, one has to wonder if zeolite which is a silicate in the soil may be a factor contributing to the very high numbers in the death rate as compared to other states.

When it comes to California mesothelioma there are many options for patients these days including chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, or a combination of the three. There is no cure for mesothelioma and surgery is used to remove the tumor and the surrounding infected tissues to alleviate pain or the patient.

Research has shown that people who are exposed to high levels of asbestos over a long period of time are the patients who are at the most risk for Mesothelioma. After the US government came up with warnings in the mid-70s about the risk of asbestos it has been banned by many countries and during that time employers began giving their workers protective gear in an attempt to prevent the contraction of the disease.

California mesothelioma cases are often times stumbled upon during tests and procedures for other complaints that the patient may present to the doctor with. Treatment for mesothelioma is still being investigated through various research opportunities in clinical trials. Unfortunately, the disease responds poorly and approximately 20% of patients with mesothelioma will have a survival rate of more than five years.
