Hemorrhoid Thrombosis

Hemorrhoid Thrombosis

Mesoth.net - Hemorrhoid thrombosis is a condition that develops in some people who have hemorrhoids. Basically what happens is that blood clots develop inside of the hemorrhoid. This usually causes the hemorrhoid and surrounding area to become very red, inflamed, and very tender. Hemorrhoid thrombosis can occur in both internal and external hemorrhoids. Doctor’s do no know why some hemorrhoids become thrombosed and some do not. There is also no knowledge as to why some patient’s experience this condition and some do not.

Hemorrhoid thrombosis is not something that affects every patient who has hemorrhoids. A lot of people who are affected by this condition don’t even know it. Hemorrhoid thrombosis ranges from mild to severe with the mild and severe cases often taking care of themselves over time. In fact, when a patient is suffering from hemorrhoid thrombosis with external hemorrhoids a doctor will often give the patient a chance to allow the condition to clear up on its own instead of getting involved surgically.

A lot of doctors don’t like to take a chance with hemorrhoid thrombosis. The reason for this is that a lot of people are in severe pain with this condition and also because of the hemorrhoid does not heal correctly the patient may suffer even more pain and complications. With hemorrhoid thrombosis, the patient is at risk of developing gangrene as well as ulceration, which will lead to further complications of the anal region.

Most doctors choose to remove the hemorrhoid when it has become thrombosed. This can be done in a variety of different ways including surgery where incisions will be made to remove the hemorrhoid as well as the blood vessels. Other doctors will choose to remove the hemorrhoids through laser removal, and others still will choose hemorrhoid banding. Each of these treatments have their benefits and risks and a doctor will determine which procedure is most fitting based on the health and the condition of the patient.

If you have particularly painful hemorrhoids that seem to be much more sensitive than you have experienced in the past you may want to see your doctor. Your doctor will be able to tell you with ease if you are suffering from hemorrhoid thrombosis and what can be done about it. Remember, in some cases the doctor may allow you to take a “wait and see” approach to treating hemorrhoid thrombosis, but it is a good idea to know what is going on.
